How offices have evolved to meet pandemic challenges: Dr. Lacerenza has been interviewed by several organizations including the Denver Post, Business Offficer, and CU Boulder Today. Most recently, Dr. Lacerenza met with the Denver Post to discuss how workplaces have changed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Lacerenza has experience researching digital teamwork even before the pandemic. Now, Dr. Lacerenza sees our new virtual climate as an opportunity to revamp the work experience.
“Rich With Learning”: Dr. Lacerenza was interviewed by the Business Officer to discuss the unique challenges we face now in higher education and ways to make the most of our time. Dr. Lacerenza believes that “This pandemic has only increased the nudge in the direction of virtual teaming…” and that in order to put our best foot forward we must “…view this experience as one that is rich with learning rather than one that is rich with setbacks or challenges”. Dr. Lacerenza says that her number one piece of advice for working from home is to "...not lose your voice. Continue to speak up and be more intentional with your communication patterns.” |

“Teamwork: the Hidden Ingredient in Trading Success”: Dr. Lacerenza has had her research and teaching highlighted by Forbes, the Association for Psychological Science, Houston Style Magazine, the Leeds School of Business, Rice News, and Healthcare IT Today. Dr. Lacerenza’s 2017 meta analysis on leadership training was highlighted by Forbes. This study found that “…teams performed at higher levels when their leaders received leadership training…” (Lacerenza). This research was used by Forbes on the ten year anniversary of the 2008 recession to provide a model for successful business strategies.
“Incoming Students Discover a Culture of Gender Equity”: Recently, Dr. Lacerenza’s teaching was highlighted at the Leeds School of Business Women’s Collective Forum to End the Gap. Dr. Lacerenza spoke to female graduate students about how to achieve their goals despite systemic disadvantages.
“Team-trained Health Care Staff can Reduce Patient Deaths by 15 Percent”, “Team Training Can Produce Great Results”, and “Team Training in Health Care can Save Lives”: Dr. Lacerenza has extensive experience researching healthcare leadership. This research has been highlighted by Science Daily, Rice, and Healthcare IT Today. Dr. Lacerenza’s research found that “Financial outcomes of health care organizations were improved by 15 percent…team training was associated with a 34 percent improvement in clinical performance” |
"Quality beats Quantity in Team Communications": Dr. Lacerenza's research was also highlighted by the Association for Psychological Science.. The APS used Dr. Lacerenza's research to pull together a general guide for successful team communication. Dr. Lacerenza hopes that this research will help organizations and businesses to be a welcoming environment for all.
"Rice Research to Study Hurdles Women Face Pursuing STEM Careers": Dr. Lacerenza is incredibly passionate about gender equality in the workplace. Her research focuses on the difficulties that women face in STEM careers. This research was highlighted by Houston Style Magazine. As the LAC lab continues to research equality in STEM fields, Dr. Lacerenza keeps an important end goal in mind: retaining women in STEM.
